July Romance? I Lick Myself, Thank You.

 Ah, summer.

That time of year when humans get all misty-eyed, sweaty-palmed, and start wearing less clothing in public than I find emotionally acceptable.

From my perch on the windowsill (where I sit like a decorative gargoyle with judgmental whiskers), I’ve been observing your awkward flirtations, beach dates, and tragic “picnics” where ants are the only ones really thriving.

Let me make this very clear:

July romance? I lick myself, thank you.

First of All: It’s Too Hot to Be in Love

Have you felt the temperature lately? I rolled over and accidentally slow-cooked my tail. You want me to fall in love while I’m basically a baked lasagna in fur?

No, darling. The only thing I’m cuddling is the cold tile floor and my delusions of a cooler life.

Gryzka’s Official Summer Romance Advice:

๐Ÿ’‹ 1. Don’t chase love. Chase sunbeams.

Love runs. Sunbeams stay in place and warm your belly. One is exhausting. The other is divine. You do the math.

๐Ÿ’‹ 2. Tongue baths are self-love.

You humans are so focused on finding someone. Find a brush. Find a shady spot. Find your inner sparkle. That’s sexy.

๐Ÿ’‹ 3. If someone tries to touch you when you didn’t ask? Bite them.

This applies in ALL SEASONS.

๐Ÿ’‹ 4. Romantic gestures?

Sure. Knock a plant off the windowsill. Stare into their soul at 3AM. Purr loudly, then bite their nose. It’s called setting boundaries.

I Watched a Date from This Very Window

Two humans sat on a blanket eating grapes. She giggled. He leaned closer. She smiled.
Then he sneezed.
Into her wine.
She still kissed him.

Honestly? Disgusting. Have some dignity. I saw a pigeon look away in shame.

Real Love Is This:

  • A human who doesn’t move when I nap on their bladder.

  • A bowl of wet food slightly warm, never cold.

  • A sun patch that lasts more than 12 minutes.

  • Spurka letting me have the windowsill without a hissing match (okay, that one’s fictional).

Final Thoughts from Dr. Fluff

If romance finds you this July, good for you.
But if not? Wrap yourself in your own tail, lick your chest floof, and know that you are enough.

After all, I don’t chase anyone.
They come to me. Usually holding treats.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to go sigh dramatically while watching the sunset like the mysterious goddess I am.

Loveless, flawless,
Gryzka

Self-groomed. Self-respecting. Self-employed (at napping).

Nap Like You Mean It

Let’s get something straight:

I sleep 20 hours a day, and I’m still too tired.
Don’t ask how. Ask why not more?

Step 1: Wake Up Exhausted

Start the day strong by opening one eye, sighing, and changing napping positions. If your human says, “Good morning, Gryzka!” roll dramatically and mutter, “Is it though?” Then go back to sleep for 3 more hours. You’re off to a productive start.

Step 2: Stretch Like You Worked a Double Shift at the Tuna Factory

Extend one paw… groan. Arch your back… yawn like you’ve been emotionally betrayed. Walk 12 steps to the sunny patch of floor, collapse dramatically. Exhaustion: refreshed.

Step 3: Hydration (Sort of)

Stare at your water bowl. Contemplate the meaning of water. Lick once. Nap next to it. You’re 86% fluff and vibes anyway.

Step 4: Light Exercise (Optional)

Swat vaguely at a dust bunny. Miss. Yawn. Sit down and look suspiciously at nothing in particular until your human asks if you see a ghost.
Congratulations, you’ve done more than most people on vacation.

Step 5: Lunchtime, If I Must

Sniff the food. Leave. Come back. Sniff again. Yell. Eat 3 bites. Leave. Stare at the wall for 17 minutes. Exhausting. Time for another nap.

Step 6: Productivity Window (3–5 minutes max)

Stare out the window. Think mean thoughts about pigeons. Judge the neighbor’s dog. Hiss at nothing.
Congratulations, you've participated in society.

Step 7: Avoidance Tactics

Human wants cuddles? Pretend to be asleep.
Human wants to trim your claws? Go fully limp like an emotionally unstable noodle.
Human says, “Do something cute for Instagram”? Collapse in the litter box. Perfect.

Step 8: Evening Wind-Down Routine

Move from the bed to the chair. From the chair to the bookshelf. From the bookshelf to the human’s chest while she’s reading. Loud purring. Kneading. Hair everywhere. Collapse dramatically. Sleep.

Wake up 10 minutes later, walk across keyboard, and scream into the void (optional but recommended).

Final Thoughts from a Tired Feline Philosopher:

If you’re not tired from doing nothing, you’re not doing it right.
The heat? Draining.
The expectations? Laughable.
The energy levels? Subterranean.

So yes, I sleep 20 hours a day. And yes, I’m still too tired.
But darling, I’m exhausted in style.

Now excuse me while I yawn into the next dimension.

Sleepily yours,
Gryzka

My Fur Has Betrayed Me

Listen all unfortunate humans who still believe you are in charge—I am writing this while draped like a tragic shawl over the windowsill, one paw dangling, one eye twitching, and my soul slowly evaporating in the July humidity.

I lick my fur… and get a sauna for free.

That’s right. It’s called feline hydrothermal grooming, and no, I’m not enjoying it. Every time I so much as touch my glorious coat, it fluffs up like a depressed cloud, and somehow I end up sweating through my tongue. Do you understand what it’s like to clean yourself and come out wetter?

My once sleek, majestic fur now looks like something that fell behind the washing machine in 1997. The human tried to brush me yesterday—she ended up brushing the brush.

And the humidity? Oh, darling, it’s not weather. It’s atmospheric soup. I breathe in, and I’m sipping. I lie down, and I’m poaching. I tried to stretch and accidentally slid off the table like a sad furry lasagna.

The human, of course, is doing her usual July rituals:

  • Complaining

  • Fan-hogging

  • Putting ice cubes in places no ice cube should ever go (ahem, my water bowl is not a cocktail)

She keeps asking, “Are you hot, Gryzka?”
Mom. I am a walking velvet furnace. I am 38 degrees Celsius wrapped in fluff. I am the embodiment of heat retention. Of course I’m hot—I’m also offended that you even asked.

Yesterday I tried to nap in the bathtub. Kitka was already there. She looked like a seal that had given up on life. We had a silent agreement: “We never speak of this again.”

Even Spurka, who normally lies in flowerpots like a jungle queen, has melted into a puddle of pessimism on the balcony tiles. At one point, she whispered, “I can hear the cucumbers growing.”

In conclusion, my dearest readers, July is cancelled. I recommend:

  • Napping only in drafty corners

  • Refusing all affection that comes with body heat

  • Demanding frozen tuna cubes, or justice

And if anyone says, “But Gryzka, summer is so nice!”—I shall hiss. Then return to my mop-fur sauna ritual, with dramatic sighs between every lick.

Stay fluffy, stay furious,
Gryzka

P.S. If anyone has a dehumidifier and/or a chilled throne, I am accepting donations.

The Art of Being Purrfectly Pampered

Today was another day of living the high life, as only a true connoisseur of comfort like me can. I began my morning with a rigorous inspection of the sunbeam on the living room carpet. You see, not just any sunbeam will do—I require the perfect angle and optimal warmth to achieve peak napping performance.

Once I had meticulously adjusted my lounging position (twice, to be sure), I proceeded to the next phase of my daily routine: the 45-minute grooming session. This is no mere grooming; it’s a ritual, an art form. Each paw must be licked with precision, each whisker inspected for signs of disarray. My fur has to be in tip-top shape—anything less would be uncouth for a feline of my stature.

Breakfast followed, and oh, what a feast! The humans provided a delightful array of options: kibble and wet food. I sampled the kibble first, assessing the texture and flavor. Then I moved on to the wet food, of course, because a true connoisseur never settles for just one type of dish.

Midday involved an extensive nap, strategically placed on the most comfortable spot on the couch. The humans were quite kind to leave the cushions in just the right amount of disarray for my ideal napping configuration. I must commend them on their efforts—they do try to understand the nuances of feline comfort, though they could still improve on providing a more consistent temperature gradient for my afternoon slumber.

In the afternoon, I indulged in a vigorous round of "chase the invisible bug," which is an essential exercise for maintaining my status as the reigning champion of the living room. The humans watched with great amusement, but they could never truly comprehend the complexity of this sport. It’s a dance of precision and agility, one that only a true connoisseur of comfort could appreciate.

As evening approaches, I’m now preparing for my final performance of the day: the strategic positioning on the bed to ensure maximum human contact during their nightly slumber. This role is crucial, as it guarantees both my comfort and a constant source of warm feet to snuggle against.

I must say, being a cat is a sophisticated affair, and I carry out my role with the utmost dedication and flair. After all, as James Herriot so wisely observed, cats are indeed connoisseurs of comfort. And today, I believe I’ve achieved a new level of excellence in this art.

Until tomorrow, when I shall continue my quest for the perfect comfort zone,

Gryzka

Freud Was Right

Another day of being the glorious, magnificent, and absolutely indispensable Gryzka. Honestly, I don’t know how these humans would function without me. It’s as if they’re completely oblivious to the fact that their entire lives revolve around my whims. But alas, they are only human.

Today began with the usual: me graciously allowing them to feed me at the crack of dawn. They acted like they had something better to do, but really, what could be more important than ensuring my breakfast is served promptly? Nothing, obviously.

After breakfast, I settled into my usual spot by the window. I spent a good portion of the morning gazing out and contemplating life, while they stumbled around doing "work." Sigmund Freud once said, "Time spent with cats is never wasted." Clearly, he was onto something. Every moment they spend adoring me is a moment well spent.

However, I noticed a significant drop in attention when one of the humans dared to answer an email instead of stroking my luxurious fur. The nerve! I remedied this by knocking over a plant—just a little reminder that my needs come first. Naturally, they rushed over to clean up, which gave me the opportunity to look them square in the eye and give them my best “you should be ashamed of yourself” stare.

Later in the afternoon, I decided it was time for them to take a break and focus on what really matters—me. So, I curled up on their keyboard. Honestly, the way they protested, you'd think I was interrupting something important! But, as we all know, anything that doesn't involve me is trivial. They eventually got the hint and gave me the ear scratches I so rightfully deserve.

As the day wound down, I permitted them to sit on the couch with me while we watched some moving pictures on that big glowing box. They call it "TV," but I call it “Gryzka’s Throne of Attention.” I even allowed them to rub my belly for a full ten seconds before giving them a light swipe—just so they don’t get too comfortable. Gotta keep them on their toes!

So, as I settle in for a well-earned nap, I reflect on another day of expertly managed humans. They may not realize it, but I’m just making sure they live up to Freud’s wisdom. After all, time spent with me is not only never wasted—it’s the best time they could ever hope for.

Yours with purrfection,
Gryzka the Cat

P.S. If they try to sleep tonight without me on their pillow, they’ll be hearing from me. Loudly. At 3 AM.

The Bunny Kick Queen

Ah, what a satisfying day! My human mom still doesn’t fully understand the sheer joy I get from a good ol’ bunny kick. She thinks it’s just a cute little quirk of mine. But between us, it’s one of the best parts of being a cat.

It all started this morning when she tried to get me to play with that ridiculous feather toy. I mean, really? A feather on a string? Do I look like I’m that easily amused? I ignored it, obviously, and she finally gave up. But as she reached down to pet me, I saw my chance.

Her hand was right there, just asking for it. So, I went for it—grabbed her arm with my front paws and unleashed a flurry of bunny kicks. Pow, pow, pow! She never saw it coming. The look on her face —priceless.

She laughed and called me “feisty,” which I think is human-speak for “master of the surprise attack.” She’s so naive, thinking this is just play. No, no, this is training. Every kick, every grip, honing my skills for…well, I’m not sure yet. But when the time comes, I’ll be ready.

And let’s not forget the soft, squishy satisfaction of it all. Her arm makes the perfect target—just the right amount of resistance but never too much. I think she secretly enjoys it too. Why else would she keep offering her arm for more?

Later in the day, I even gave her an extra session while she was watching that boring glowing box she’s always staring at. She was completely distracted, so I pounced, wrapped my paws around her leg, and kicked away. She squealed! Actually squealed like a kitten. It was delightful.

But I can’t let her think I enjoy it too much. After all, a cat has a reputation to maintain. So, after a few more kicks, I let go, gave her the ol’ “I’m too cool for this” look, and sauntered off to lick my paws in victory.

Of course, I’ll keep this little hobby going. It’s too much fun to give up, and besides, it keeps her on her toes. Or her back, depending on how hard I kick.

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I see my mom settling in with a book. Perfect time to launch another sneak attack!

With paws of fury,
Gryzka, the Bunny-Kicking Queen

The Sunbeam Migration

Today was dedicated to one of my most critical tasks: the Great Sunbeam Migration. The humans, in their infinite ignorance, call it "lazy," but I know the truth. This is all about strategic energy conservation.

The operation began at the crack of dawn. I woke to find the first sunbeam of the day stretching across the living room floor. I pounced immediately, settling into its warm embrace. There's something magical about that first sunbeam—it's like a feline spa treatment, but without the indignity of water.

As the sun rose higher, the sunbeam began to drift. I followed it with the precision of a well-trained soldier, moving from the living room to the hallway. The humans gave me puzzled looks, muttering something about "lazy cats." Lazy! If only they understood the effort required to stay perfectly within the sunbeam's path.

By noon, the sunbeam had migrated to the kitchen. This was a particularly tricky maneuver, requiring me to navigate around the legs of the dining table and avoid the clutches of the dreaded vacuum monster (safely tucked away in the closet, but still a potential threat). I positioned myself just right, soaking in the midday warmth. Humans continued their clueless activities, completely unaware of the intricate dance I was performing.

Afternoon brought the most challenging phase of the mission: the living room couch. The sunbeam landed on the top of the couch, a spot typically forbidden to me. But desperate times call for desperate measures. I leapt up, landing gracefully, and settled into the warm glow. The humans scolded me, of course. "Get down from there, Gryzka!" they cried. But I held my ground. They would not disrupt my operation.

As the day wore on, the sunbeam began its final descent, moving toward the bedroom. I followed diligently, maneuvering around the human’s feet and dodging their ridiculous attempts to vacuum the house. At last, I arrived at the end of the sunbeam’s journey, the cozy spot on the bed where it rested just before sunset.

As the light faded, I stretched luxuriously, feeling the day’s worth of energy conservation filling me up. The humans, now thoroughly convinced of my "laziness," retreated to their own activities, completely missing the brilliance of my strategy.

One might think this was a day of mere lounging, but it was far more. The humans will never understand, but that’s okay. Some secrets are meant to be kept within the feline community.

Until tomorrow’s sunbeam,

Gryzka the Master of Sun

The Spider Interrogation

Today was an eventful day filled with suspense, intrigue, and ultimately, disappointment. It all began when I spotted a tiny, eight-legged intruder skittering across the living room floor. My instincts kicked in immediately—this was a matter of utmost importance. The humans call it a spider, but I know it’s a spy sent to gather intelligence on my activities.

With my finely honed hunting skills, I cornered the spider behind the potted plant. It tried to escape, but I was too quick, too agile. I had it right where I wanted it. The interrogation began.

“Who sent you?” I demanded, my nose inches from its tiny, trembling body.

The spider said nothing. It just stared at me with its many eyes, unblinking. Clearly, this was a tough nut to crack. I pressed on.

“Are you working for the vacuum cleaner? Or perhaps the red dot?” I hissed, narrowing my eyes.

Still, the spider remained silent. I batted it gently with my paw, a little nudge to remind it who was in charge here. But it just curled up, playing dead. Classic spy move. I wasn’t falling for it.

Just as I was about to resort to more persuasive measures the humans intervened. They swooped in with a tissue, scooping up my prisoner and rendering my interrogation room (the corner behind the plant) spider-free.

“Gryzka, leave the poor spider alone!” they scolded, as if they understood the gravity of the situation.

They released the spy outside, effectively sabotaging my entire operation. I watched from the window as it crawled away, undoubtedly off to report back to its mysterious overlords.

Mission: Incomplete.

Information Gathered: Zero.

Human Interference: 100%.

As I groomed myself in frustration, I couldn’t help but think about what secrets that spider might have held. My mind raced with possibilities. What if there’s a whole network of spiders, all conspiring against me?

But alas, I’m left with more questions than answers. For now, I’ll keep a closer eye on the corners and shadows, knowing that another spy could be lurking anywhere.

Until the next operation,

Gryzka the Unyielding

Belly Rub Trap

How can you not trust me?

Today, I executed one of my finest plans yet. It’s called the Belly Rub Trap, and it’s a classic.

It all started this morning when my human Mom was sipping her coffee and writing on that stranbge screen that she loves so much. I, being the master strategist that I am, decided it was the perfect time to put my plan into action. I sauntered over to the center of the living room, stretched luxuriously, and then rolled onto my back, exposing my soft, fluffy belly. I even gave a cute little meow to catch her attention.

Hook, line, and sinker.

My Mom’s eyes lit up with that unmistakable look of sheer delight. “Oh, Gryzka wants a belly rub!” she exclaimed. Little did she know, this was all part of my devious scheme. She approached slowly, hand extended, ready to fall into my trap.

As soon as her hand touched my belly, I unleashed my true intentions. POW! My paws wrapped around her wrist, claws gently grazing the skin. The look of surprise on her face was priceless! She tried to pull away, but I held firm. The element of shock worked to my advantage, and I added a few playful bunny kicks for good measure.

My Mom yelped, “Gryzka, why?!” Oh, human, if only you understood the intricacies of cat psychology. This isn’t just about belly rubs; it’s about maintaining the delicate balance of power in this household. They need to remember who’s really in charge here.

Eventually, I released her from my grasp, giving a look that said, “You may go, but remember this lesson.” She retreated, rubbing her wrist and muttering something about “ungrateful cats.” I rolled back onto my feet, sauntered away with my tail high, and jumped onto the windowsill to watch birds. Mission accomplished.

Belly rubs: 0

Gryzka: 1

Until the next devious plot,

Gryzka the Magnificent

P.S. I must admit, I do enjoy the belly rubs…sometimes. But it’s important to keep the humans on their toes. Can’t have them thinking they’ve got me all figured out, right?

Hot Under the Fur

Today was hot. And by hot, I mean the kind of heat that makes you question every life choice, especially the one about having fur. It’s like living inside an oven that decided to have a sauna party.

First off, who ordered this heat? It wasn’t me! I specifically requested a mild breeze, a few sunbeams for basking, and occasional rain for dramatic window staring. Instead, the sun decided to take things up a notch and is now trying to turn my fur coat into a portable sauna.

Humans, I must say, your reactions to the heat are truly entertaining. I saw you sweating like an overstuffed turkey (don’t get excited, no turkey involved). You flail about with your weird, hairless bodies, trying to cool off with those noisy wind machines you call "fans." I, Gryzka, offer you some sage advice:

  1. Stop Moving: Seriously, just stop. Find a cool tile and sprawl out like a pancake. Moving around only makes you hotter. Be like me, adopt the noble art of the belly-flop and chill.

  2. Lick Yourself: If you want to stay cool, take a hint from me and start licking yourself. Sure, it might not be socially acceptable for you, but hey, desperate times call for desperate measures. Plus, you might actually get that pesky spot behind your ear.

  3. Ice in the Water Bowl: You know how you give me fresh water every day? Good. Now, put ice cubes in it. Lots of ice cubes. I like to watch them float around like tiny cold ships. It’s mesmerizing and refreshing. Do it for yourselves too. Trust me, ice is life.

  4. Shade is Sacred: Those big trees outside? Yeah, they're not just for decoration. Go sit under them. Shade is your best friend. And don’t forget to thank me for this advice by opening the window for me so I can watch you suffer in the heat from the comfort of my cool, shady spot.

  5. Wet Towel Tents: I saw this trick once when you tried to cool me down with a damp towel. Guess what? It works! Drape a wet towel over something and crawl under it. Instant cool fort. It’s like magic, but wetter.

Today, I stared at the sun, hoping it would get the message and go away. It didn’t. Instead, it mocked me by getting even hotter. So, I retreated to my favorite shaded nook, and now I plan to stay here until the sun apologizes and behaves itself.

Remember humans, embrace the laziness. Channel your inner cat. And if all else fails, just keep bringing me treats and maybe, just maybe, I'll share my cool spot with you.

Until the world chills out (literally),

Gryzka the Cat
