My Summer Body Is Just More Cat

Every year, around June, humans start saying strange things.

“Summer is coming.”
“I need to get in shape.”
“Beach body season!”

Meanwhile I am lying on the floor shaped like a warm croissant with fur, wondering why humans keep inventing new ways to suffer.

Personally, my summer body strategy is simple:

become slightly fluffier.

Humans Have Very Strange Priorities

Suddenly everybody is:

  • drinking green liquids,
  • jogging voluntarily,
  • and discussing carbohydrates like they committed crimes.

I watched my human eat salad while looking emotionally devastated.

Couldn’t be me.

If I eat grass, it’s because I made a bad decision, not because of “wellness.”

I Already Have the Perfect Summer Body

Step 1:
Have body.

Step 2:
Exist during summer.

Congratulations.

Summer body achieved.

Honestly, cats solved this problem centuries ago.

You never see cats:

  • counting calories,
  • doing crunches,
  • or crying over swimsuits.

We simply arrive already magnificent.

Yes, I Am Slightly Round. Thank You for Noticing.

Humans keep using words like:
“chonky,”
“fluffy,”
and my least favorite:
“little meatball.”

Excuse me.

This is not fat.

This is:

  • stored wisdom,
  • emergency snack capacity,
  • and advanced cuddle technology.

Do you know how comforting it is to hug a slightly squishy cat?

Exactly.

I provide a public service.

Summer Heat Changes a Cat

In winter I become:
tiny furry loaf.

In summer I transform into:
melted carpet with opinions.

You will find me:

  • stretched dramatically across tiles,
  • hanging halfway off furniture,
  • or lying belly-up like I’ve fainted from Victorian exhaustion.

This is not laziness.

This is temperature management.

The Audacity of the Vet

Recently the vet said I should:
“watch my weight.”

Interesting.

Meanwhile nobody tells pigeons to exercise and some of them look like rotisserie chickens with wings.

Selective criticism.

Kitka Is Naturally Elegant and It’s Annoying

Kitka walks like an ancient queen in a historical drama.

Every movement graceful.
Every pose majestic.

Meanwhile I once fell off a chair because I sneezed too aggressively.

Still iconic though.

Spurka claims he “doesn’t care about appearances,” yet spends three hours a day grooming himself like a tiny black panther preparing for a magazine shoot.

Hypocrisy everywhere.

Exercise Is Important, Unfortunately

Do I exercise?

Of course.

Every evening at exactly the wrong hour, I perform:
✨ The Zoomies ✨

This includes:

  • sprinting into walls,
  • parkour off furniture,
  • and terrifying the household with unexplained speed.

For seven minutes I become pure athletic power.

Then I collapse breathing heavily beside the food bowl.

Balance.

Bikini Season? I Have Fur Season.

Humans spend summer trying to reveal more skin.

I spend summer shedding enough fur to build a second cat.

Nature heals differently for everyone.

My human says:
“Gryzka, your hair is everywhere.”

Good.

This apartment should remember me even after I leave the room.

Confidence Is the Most Attractive Thing Anyway

You know what truly makes someone beautiful?

The confidence to:

  • nap openly,
  • ask for snacks without shame,
  • and take up space unapologetically.

I walk into every room like a celebrity arriving late to her own award ceremony.

That energy matters.

Final Thoughts From a Slightly Toasted Cat

So no, I will not be “getting beach ready.”

I am already:

  • soft,
  • glorious,
  • emotionally expressive,
  • and aerodynamic enough for moderate hallway sprinting.

My summer body is simply… more cat.

More fluff.
More naps.
More attitude.
More dramatic collapsing onto cool floors.

And honestly?

I highly recommend it.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to lie in front of the fan like a windswept movie star and think about tuna.

Apples to Ashes: A Candle Cat-aclysm

Today, my trust in the humans has been shattered yet again. They came home from whatever strange place they disappear to every day, holding a small round object in a jar that they seemed overly excited about. They kept saying it was “apple-scented,” like that was supposed to mean something to me. I thought apples were just red or green balls of crunch that they eat and sometimes try to trick me into sniffing. They aren’t particularly interesting or dangerous, so naturally, I was curious. Besides, my one and only job is to monitor every single item that comes through our door.

So, when they put the jar on the coffee table and wandered off, it was time for me to conduct a formal investigation. I hopped up on the table, circled it a few times to establish my dominance, and finally sniffed it cautiously. Nothing. Just a strange, spicy apple smell—pleasant but suspiciously strong. I was about to leave it alone and chalk it up to human nonsense, when suddenly, they came back and did something unthinkable.

They set it on fire.

Yes, they actually set this jar on fire and just left it there, as if fire in the middle of the room was completely normal. I was horrified! But my duty was clear: I had to assess this new development. So, I returned to the jar, squinting at the tiny flame flickering on top. The apple smell was even stronger now, warm and inviting, which only added to my confusion. Was this a trap? Were they trying to distract me from some even bigger human scheme?

I took another sniff, tentatively leaning in closer to decipher this mystery once and for all. Just as I was about to get a proper whiff—ZAP! My poor, innocent whiskers were singed in a tiny puff of betrayal!

The smell of burnt fur filled my nostrils, and I recoiled in horror. I had trusted them to bring home only safe, sniffable items, not... apple-scented fire hazards! Worse still, I realized that they had probably done this on purpose, just for their own amusement. My whiskers were stinging, my pride was wounded, and I felt betrayed on every level.

At this point, the human noticed my distress. She scooped me up, cooing, “Oh, Gryzka, did the candle scare you?” Scare me?! I was not scared, I was furious. This was clearly a violation of the feline rights code. I glared at her as she stroked my fur and laughed about “my little pyromaniac,” as if any of this was my fault.

After I escaped her clutches, I stomped away, tail flicking with righteous indignation. I spent the next fifteen minutes grooming my poor singed whiskers in peace, cursing the candle, the apples, and the entire concept of fire in general. But as I groomed, I realized: I couldn’t let this candle nonsense slide. If I didn’t act decisively, who knew what other dangerous scented traps they might bring home next?

With my mind made up, I crept back toward the living room, where the candle still burned. I leapt onto the coffee table and positioned myself directly in front of it, staring it down, my gaze a burning testament to justice. I would not be singed again.

The human, who clearly had no sense of my dignified mission, saw me and laughed, saying, “Are you guarding the candle, Gryzka?” Absolutely, I was! I was making sure it knew it wasn’t welcome here.

After a solid ten minutes of this showdown, I realized it was time for the ultimate strike. I stretched out a paw and, with a decisive swipe, sent the candle jar tumbling onto the floor. There was a satisfying clunk as it hit the rug, and the flame went out instantly. The humans yelled in alarm, scrambling to pick up the glass jar. I, however, felt victorious.

They could protest all they wanted, but the fact was clear: the candle had crossed a line, and I had taken the necessary action to protect my territory. I gave the humans my best “you brought this upon yourselves” look before sauntering off, leaving them to deal with the apple-scented wreckage.

So, let this be a warning to all scented candles: stay out of my home, or face the wrath of Gryzka. I have officially banned all candles from my territory. And the humans? They can keep their dangerous apple-smelling nonsense to themselves.

The Paper Trail

Today was a day for the history books. Or at least, it should be in the annals of feline mischief. I embarked on what will go down in the records as “The Great Toilet Paper Caper,” and let me tell you, it was a masterpiece of chaos and cunning.

It all began innocently enough. My humans had left an entire roll of toilet paper on the bathroom floor. They must have thought it was safe there, but oh, how wrong they were. To a cat, a roll of toilet paper is like a gift from the heavens—soft, crinkly, and just begging to be unraveled.

As soon as I noticed the roll, my whiskers twitched with excitement. I slinked into the bathroom, my eyes locked on my prize. The moment I batted at the roll, it began to unravel like a magic spell. The thrill of the chase! I couldn’t resist.

I carefully pawed at the roll, and it started to unroll in a most satisfying manner. One swipe of my paw, and the paper tumbled out in a long, trailing ribbon. Oh, how it flowed! Like a white, papery waterfall. It was beautiful. I couldn’t help but dive into it with all the enthusiasm of a kitten discovering catnip for the first time.

Soon, the bathroom floor was covered in a sea of toilet paper. I bounded through the mess, rolling and twirling, turning the bathroom into a snowy landscape of shredded paper. I was in my element. It felt like a party, and I was the guest of honor.

But then, the unthinkable happened. My humans came into the bathroom. They stopped dead in their tracks, their jaws nearly hitting the floor. They stared at me, wide-eyed, as I lay in the middle of the paper storm, looking innocently up at them. I tried my best to look nonchalant, as if I was merely taking a nap on a very fluffy bed.

“Gryzka!” they exclaimed, and I could almost hear the “Uh-oh” in their voices. I knew I was caught, but it was too late to turn back now. They started laughing, which was both a relief and an indignity. Laughing at my brilliant work? How dare they!

I noticed that they were taking pictures. I had hoped for the fame and glory, but I didn’t quite expect to be immortalized in their “Cat Chronicles” photo album. I’ll have to make sure they understand that true artistry should be celebrated, not mocked.

In the aftermath, they cleaned up the mess while I sat on the bathroom counter, looking utterly indifferent, as if I had no part in the pandemonium. I overheard them discussing whether to buy a “toilet paper holder” for better security. I can’t help but think that this is a win for me. After all, where’s the fun if there’s no challenge?

So, Diary, my masterpiece was complete. The Great Toilet Paper Caper was a resounding success. I’ll sleep soundly tonight, dreaming of new adventures and perhaps plotting my next escapade.

Until then, I remain the undisputed queen of chaos.

With a mischievous purr,
Gryzka, the Toilet Paper Queen

The Sunbeam Migration

Today was dedicated to one of my most critical tasks: the Great Sunbeam Migration. The humans, in their infinite ignorance, call it "lazy," but I know the truth. This is all about strategic energy conservation.

The operation began at the crack of dawn. I woke to find the first sunbeam of the day stretching across the living room floor. I pounced immediately, settling into its warm embrace. There's something magical about that first sunbeam—it's like a feline spa treatment, but without the indignity of water.

As the sun rose higher, the sunbeam began to drift. I followed it with the precision of a well-trained soldier, moving from the living room to the hallway. The humans gave me puzzled looks, muttering something about "lazy cats." Lazy! If only they understood the effort required to stay perfectly within the sunbeam's path.

By noon, the sunbeam had migrated to the kitchen. This was a particularly tricky maneuver, requiring me to navigate around the legs of the dining table and avoid the clutches of the dreaded vacuum monster (safely tucked away in the closet, but still a potential threat). I positioned myself just right, soaking in the midday warmth. Humans continued their clueless activities, completely unaware of the intricate dance I was performing.

Afternoon brought the most challenging phase of the mission: the living room couch. The sunbeam landed on the top of the couch, a spot typically forbidden to me. But desperate times call for desperate measures. I leapt up, landing gracefully, and settled into the warm glow. The humans scolded me, of course. "Get down from there, Gryzka!" they cried. But I held my ground. They would not disrupt my operation.

As the day wore on, the sunbeam began its final descent, moving toward the bedroom. I followed diligently, maneuvering around the human’s feet and dodging their ridiculous attempts to vacuum the house. At last, I arrived at the end of the sunbeam’s journey, the cozy spot on the bed where it rested just before sunset.

As the light faded, I stretched luxuriously, feeling the day’s worth of energy conservation filling me up. The humans, now thoroughly convinced of my "laziness," retreated to their own activities, completely missing the brilliance of my strategy.

One might think this was a day of mere lounging, but it was far more. The humans will never understand, but that’s okay. Some secrets are meant to be kept within the feline community.

Until tomorrow’s sunbeam,

Gryzka the Master of Sun

Hot Under the Fur

Today was hot. And by hot, I mean the kind of heat that makes you question every life choice, especially the one about having fur. It’s like living inside an oven that decided to have a sauna party.

First off, who ordered this heat? It wasn’t me! I specifically requested a mild breeze, a few sunbeams for basking, and occasional rain for dramatic window staring. Instead, the sun decided to take things up a notch and is now trying to turn my fur coat into a portable sauna.

Humans, I must say, your reactions to the heat are truly entertaining. I saw you sweating like an overstuffed turkey (don’t get excited, no turkey involved). You flail about with your weird, hairless bodies, trying to cool off with those noisy wind machines you call "fans." I, Gryzka, offer you some sage advice:

  1. Stop Moving: Seriously, just stop. Find a cool tile and sprawl out like a pancake. Moving around only makes you hotter. Be like me, adopt the noble art of the belly-flop and chill.

  2. Lick Yourself: If you want to stay cool, take a hint from me and start licking yourself. Sure, it might not be socially acceptable for you, but hey, desperate times call for desperate measures. Plus, you might actually get that pesky spot behind your ear.

  3. Ice in the Water Bowl: You know how you give me fresh water every day? Good. Now, put ice cubes in it. Lots of ice cubes. I like to watch them float around like tiny cold ships. It’s mesmerizing and refreshing. Do it for yourselves too. Trust me, ice is life.

  4. Shade is Sacred: Those big trees outside? Yeah, they're not just for decoration. Go sit under them. Shade is your best friend. And don’t forget to thank me for this advice by opening the window for me so I can watch you suffer in the heat from the comfort of my cool, shady spot.

  5. Wet Towel Tents: I saw this trick once when you tried to cool me down with a damp towel. Guess what? It works! Drape a wet towel over something and crawl under it. Instant cool fort. It’s like magic, but wetter.

Today, I stared at the sun, hoping it would get the message and go away. It didn’t. Instead, it mocked me by getting even hotter. So, I retreated to my favorite shaded nook, and now I plan to stay here until the sun apologizes and behaves itself.

Remember humans, embrace the laziness. Channel your inner cat. And if all else fails, just keep bringing me treats and maybe, just maybe, I'll share my cool spot with you.

Until the world chills out (literally),

Gryzka the Cat
